Listed weight is the shipping weight on our product record, so it may include some packaging. Use it to compare toys, not as an exact figure.
Why weight matters more than you'd think
A suction cup has to hold up the whole toy. On a floor or a chair that's easy, because the toy sits on top of the cup. On a shower wall the shaft sticks straight out, and its weight pulls on the seal the whole time.
That's why we'd start wall play with something at the light end of the table. The Real Skin weighs about three times what the Mini does, and it's better suited to a floor or a sturdy chair. None of these listings publish a cup diameter or a hold rating, so we can't honestly rank them by suction strength, and you should be wary of anyone who claims to without testing them.
The picks in detail
Best for most people: Easy Riders 7 Inch, $43.95

The manufacturer says this firm silicone shaft can bend 180 degrees, which helps you find an angle when the cup is stuck somewhere fixed. It's the lightest toy here apart from the Mini, and the wide base also fits most harnesses. If you're unsure about length or width, our dildo size chart shows how 1.7 inches compares.
Smallest: Silicone 4 Inch Mini, $28.95
At 4 inches insertable and 1.1 inches wide, this is the gentlest way to find out whether you like riding a toy at all. The listing doesn't mention harness use, so treat it as a solo toy.
Lowest risk on price: Jock C-Thru 7 Inch, $29.95

It's a full 7 inches at nearly the Mini's price, and it fits a harness. The trade-off is the material. TPE is porous, so the University of Rochester's health service suggests a condom over toys like this. Use water-based lube only.
Glass option: Glass Dildo with Silicone Base, $42.95

The borosilicate shaft has no give, and you can warm or cool it under running water. The silicone cup detaches for cleaning. The manufacturer warns against using it over concrete and against drops from a height, so we'd keep it low and off the shower wall. If you like the idea, browse our other glass dildos.
Easiest to clean: Silexpan 7 Inch, $54.95

The listing says this one is top-rack dishwasher safe and can be boiled for 3 minutes. That's a real convenience for a toy with a cup that collects bathroom grime. It has no balls, so nothing gets in the way of the base.
Best vibrating: 21X Vibrating Thick, $80.95

This one has 3 speeds, 7 patterns and a remote that works up to 26 feet away. It's rated IPX7, so it can be underwater for up to 30 minutes, and the shape isn't realistic, if that's a plus for you. We have more vibrating dildos if you'd like a different size.
Best thrusting: Thrusting and Vibrating 8 Inch, $95.95
You get 3 thrusting speeds and 7 vibration patterns, with a 1-hour charge for 45 minutes of use. It's waterproof, but at about a pound with a moving shaft, we'd mount it on a floor or chair before a wall. See more thrusting dildos for other sizes.
Most realistic feel: Real Skin 8.5 Inch, $100.95
A movable outer skin slides over a firm core, and the details are hand-painted. It's the longest here at 8 inches insertable, so it suits someone who already knows they like that size.
What surfaces will a suction cup stick to?
Look for a surface that's smooth, flat and non-porous, like glazed tile, glass, a mirror or sealed wood. Grout lines, textured walls, fabric and carpet let air in, so the seal fails.
- Clean the surface and the cup, then dry both.
- Press the center of the base down firmly to push the air out.
- Pull on the toy hard before you trust it with your weight. If it shifts, move to a smoother spot.
- Lower yourself slowly at first, and keep lube away from the cup.
How we chose: We picked in-stock products from our own collection to cover each size, material and motor type, using manufacturer specs and our current prices. We haven't tested these hands-on. We left out novelty shapes.
Care and safety
- Lube: Planned Parenthood calls water-based lube a safe bet with any toy, and warns that silicone lube can damage silicone toys. Passion Natural 10 oz is $26.95.
- Cleaning: Wash with mild soap and water before and after use, including under the rim of the cup. Follow each listing for anything further.
- Anal play: Planned Parenthood says any toy used anally needs a flared base so it can't get stuck. Because the cup detaches on the glass toy, we'd choose a one-piece toy instead.
- Sharing: Shared toys can spread STDs. Wash the toy or change the condom on it before it touches another person, and never move from anus to vagina without doing so.
- Pain: Stop if something hurts. If pain or bleeding continues, see a doctor.
Shipping and returns
Standard US shipping is free from $85 and $6 below that, in a plain box with discreet billing. Only the thrusting pick and the Real Skin reach $85 by themselves. The 21X is $4.05 short, so adding any lube covers it. Unopened items can be returned within 30 days.
FAQ
Are suction cup dildos compatible with strap-on harnesses?
Many are, as the cup is usually wide enough to sit behind the harness ring. Check for "harness compatible" on the listing. Four of our eight picks say so explicitly, and the Real Skin mentions strap-on use, while the other three don't mention it. You'll also need a strap-on harness with a ring that fits. Our suction cup and strap-on guide explains the differences.
Why do dildos have suction cups?
So you can use them hands-free. The cup holds the toy in place while you control the depth and pace with your body. It also serves as a wide base.
Can you use a suction cup dildo in the shower?
Yes, if the wall is smooth and you test the seal first. Non-motorized picks have no electronics to worry about, and the 21X and thrusting pick are listed as waterproof. Start with a light toy, and take care on wet floors.
How much should I spend?
Of the 351 in-stock listings in this collection, 248 cost under $85, starting at $16.95. Silicone starts at $28.95 in our picks. The cheaper toys are often porous materials such as TPE or PVC, so it's worth checking the material line first.
