How to Choose the Right Dildo
With 600+ dildos to browse, the fastest way to your favorite is to decide on four things first: size, material, base and features. Use the Type, Material, Length, Width, Vibration, Power, Waterproof, Suction cup base and Harness compatible filters on this page to narrow the field in seconds.
Length: how deep do you want to go?
Remember that listed length usually includes the base (and balls on realistic models), so the insertable length is a little shorter than the number on the box.
- Under 5 in: compact and approachable. Great for first-timers, anal beginners and anyone who prefers focused, shallow stimulation.
- 5–7 in: the all-rounder range and the most popular starting point for vaginal play, strap-on use and G-spot or P-spot targeting.
- 7–9 in: more reach for intermediate users who enjoy deeper strokes or want a longer handle to hold on to.
- 9–12 in: size-play territory for experienced users who know their limits.
- Over 12 in: statement pieces and challenge toys. Most people use only part of the length, and that is perfectly fine.
Width: the number that matters most
Girth is what you feel most, so pay closer attention to diameter than to length.
- Under 1.25 in: slim and easy, ideal for beginners and anal exploration. Browse skinny dildos.
- 1.25–1.75 in: a comfortable, satisfying middle ground for most people.
- 1.75–2.25 in: noticeably thick, with a full stretching sensation. Warm up first.
- Over 2.25 in: for experienced size lovers. Go slowly and use plenty of lube.
Not sure where to start? Our beginner dildos keep things friendly, while huge dildos are there when you are ready to level up.
Materials: what your dildo is made of
- Silicone: non-porous, warms to body temperature and easy to clean. Look for body-safe silicone if you want a toy that lasts.
- Glass and stainless steel: non-porous, smooth and firm, with weight you can feel. Both can be warmed or cooled for temperature play.
- Dual-density silicone: a firm core with a softer outer layer for a more lifelike give. See our dual density dildos.
- TPE, PVC and jelly: soft and budget-friendly but porous, so they need extra cleaning care and are best used with a condom if shared.

Suction cup and harness compatibility
A suction cup base lets you mount your dildo on a smooth, non-porous surface like tile or glass for hands-free riding or shower play. A flat, flared base that is harness compatible fits most O-ring strap-on harnesses for partnered play. Many dildos do both, so filter for each feature if you want the flexibility.
Vibrating vs. non-vibrating
Non-vibrating dildos are all about fullness and texture, and they are often simpler to clean and harness. Vibrating dildos add buzz, and many are rechargeable with multiple patterns; check the Power and Waterproof filters if you want shower-ready play.
Realistic vs. fantasy dildos
Realistic dildos mimic the look and feel of the real thing, with veins, a defined head and sometimes balls. Fantasy dildos trade anatomy for imagination: dragons, tentacles, ridges, knots and bold colors. Neither is better; it comes down to what turns you on.
Squirting dildos
A squirting dildo adds a reservoir, tube and outlet so it can release liquid at the tip, using a squeeze bulb, syringe or powered pump. Expect extra parts to fill, flush and dry after every use. Compare models in our squirting dildos collection.
How to Use a Dildo
- Start with plenty of lube and plenty of arousal. Warm up with fingers or a smaller toy first.
- Go slowly, experiment with angles and let your body set the pace.
- Anything going into the anus must have a flared base or a suction cup base so it cannot slip inside.
- If sharing, use a fresh condom or clean the toy between partners and between anal and vaginal use.
Dildo Care, Cleaning and Lube Compatibility
Clean your dildo before and after every use with warm water and mild, unscented soap or a dedicated toy cleaner, then let it air-dry completely. Store it away from other toys, since some materials can react with each other.
- Water-based lube: safe with every material and the easiest to clean up.
- Silicone lube: long-lasting, but don't use silicone lube on silicone toys, as it can damage the surface.
- Oil-based lube: fine for glass and steel, but it degrades latex condoms.
Every order ships in a plain, unbranded box, and orders of $85+ ship free in the US.
